Role: The Eye / Guardian of Infrastructure

Commitment: 6 Hours / Day (Flexible, with emergency availability).

The Mission: You are the sentinel of Agape Crete’s physical integrity. We are currently in a high-intensity Foundational Building Stage, with multiple construction and renovation projects happening simultaneously across the property. Your mission is to oversee the functionality and safety of these varied sites—from guest houses to resident renovations—while proactively ensuring that the existing infrastructure never fails. You are a Master of Multitasking who doesn’t wait for orders; you see a need and you solve it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multiproject Oversight: At any given moment, we are building and renovating across the land. You will provide maintenance support and infrastructure oversight for several parallel projects, including:
    • Construction of the Guest House for seminar attendees.
    • Building facilities and dormitories for future Students.
    • Developing housing for Operations and staff.
    • Renovating and restoring traditional houses for long-term residents.
  • Radical Proactivity: You are “The Eye” because you see what others miss. You conduct independent daily site walks to identify and resolve issues—leaks, structural wear, or safety hazards—before they impact our builders or residents. You do not wait for a task list; you own the site’s integrity.
  • Construction Support & Repair: You execute plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs with high-level craftsmanship. Every fix must be durable and respect the “Agape Look”—merging modern functionality with traditional Cretan aesthetics.
  • Logistics & Machinery Stewardship: You manage the maintenance and servicing of our fleet of community vehicles and heavy agricultural machinery. You ensure our tools are always in peak condition to support the heavy workload of the building phase.
  • Technical Infrastructure: You maintain and test the property’s surveillance systems and water station recording equipment, ensuring our safety and data-gathering tech remains functional amidst the construction dust.
  • Visual Documentation: You capture the “bones” of our builds—the plumbing installs, the stone restorations, the solar setups—for The Voice (Communications) to showcase the professional foundation we are building.

Who You Are (Requirements)

  • The Master Multitasker: You thrive when there is “too much going on.” You can pivot from a plumbing emergency at the guest house to a machinery repair for the farm without losing your focus or quality.
  • Self-Directed Fixer: You are someone who hates seeing things broken. You have a “sees something, does something” mentality and take pride in your ability to manage your own workflow without supervision.
  • Technical Versatility: You have a strong background in facility maintenance, construction, or a skilled trade. You are comfortable working on both modern new-builds and the delicate restoration of old stone structures.
  • Crete-Hardened Experience: You understand how high-velocity winds, intense sun, and hard water affect building materials. You build for longevity in a harsh, beautiful environment.
  • Languages: Good English is required. Fluency in Greek is a great advantage for sourcing building materials from local vendors and coordinating with Cretan contractors.

Living in Community (Residency)

  • Physical Presence: This is a full-time residential role. You are required to live on-site at Agape Crete. You are the guardian on the ground who keeps the community safe and functional 24/7.
  • Beyond the 6th Hour: While your professional shift is 6 hours, your life at Agape is 24/7. You are an active neighbor who participates in community rituals, shared meals, and the social fabric of the tribe.
  • The Step-Up Spirit: You lead by example. When infrastructure tasks are stable, you step up to support the land—whether that’s helping the “Root” with a heavy harvest or assisting in community logistics.
